Our front upper shock mount brings a great look and added strength to the front of the X3.
The stock front upper shock mount on the X3 is not a true double shear from the factory, meaning that the bolt that mounts the shock is not supported on the front and back side, just the back. This puts a tremendous amount of force and leverage on the bolt and the frame. The rear supports all the force that the suspension throws at it and its less than ideal. On hard impacts or front bottom outs it will try to push the factory shock mount up and back, we've seen it several times which is why we created this product back in late 2016.
The brace bolts on top of the frame and is held on with 4 bolts. Our sheet metal bracket is made from a heavy gauge grade 50 steel that is very rigid and strong, created for bracing and gusseting. The vertical sheet metal pieces tie our billet bracket into the top of the frame. The routing of the radiator hoses and wiring stay the same as it did from the factory and do NOT require the radiator hoses to be removed. There is also nothing to restrict the exiting airflow behind the radiator.
Our 6061 billet shock mount was designed to mimic the factory bracket. We wanted to support the bracket with our brace that runs down to the chassis as far on the outside as possible. The further out we mounted it, the more control we would have over the leverage of the bracket trying to twist and move vs having a center based mount. The sheet metal lower brace bolts to the billet aluminum upper piece via (2) 1/2" grade 8 bolts. This will also be the same place that the optional limit straps will be connected. The radiator mounts stay in the same place as the factory parts which gives us a very strong and extremely clean mounting setup that holds factory dimensions.
This is KOH, XC and DAKAR Proven to add strength and rigidity.
Key features:
- Shock reservoirs can be ran in the stock position flipped in or flipped out
- Radiator lines do not have to be removed to install this kit
- Lower brace design is the most rigid on the market and doesn't restrict exiting airflow
- 100% bolt on
